About
The Auburn Municipal Airport (S50-ICAO Identifier) is a Public-Use, General Aviation Airport that serves all Pilots' needs within the Greater Puget Sound Area. The Airport is home to two Flight Training Companies, Helicopter and Fixed-Wing Aircraft Maintenance Facilities, a plethora of Aircraft Storage options plus much more. The Airport was opened in 1969 and was re-named "Dick-Scobee Field" in honor of Francis Dick Scobee, the Late Commander of the Space Shuttle Challenger (STS-51L). S50 does not provide Commercial Passenger Services. The main role of the Auburn Airport is to serve in the "Reliever" capacity, meaning the Airport aims to relieve smaller Air Traffic Congestion from the nearby Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
